'Here for You' Community Hub
This is our Church Hub at Christ Church open every Monday from 9am to 12pm, Wednesday from 10am to 12pm.
The Hub offers a place for a chat, information about church and community activities or somewhere to drop in for a time of quiet or prayer. Some of our regular visitors will bring their crocheting, others may do a puzzle or just catch up with friends. Our volunteers are there to listen over a hot or cold drink. All are welcome to pop in anytime we are open.
You can also drop off items for the local food bank when we are open.
Every Monday at Christ Church we are visited by the Crosslight 10.15am – 12pm, who are a charity offering free debt and money advice and support with budgeting. It is a drop-in service, so anyone can just turn up and you can also pre-book longer appointments if needed. Anyone is welcome to drop in to use the service and they can help with rent arrears, loans, overdrafts, baillifs and more. Every few months we also have the free NHS Health and Wellbeing Check service, where anyone over 18 can come along to talk to professionals about any health concerns and get a full health MOT which can include checks for blood pressure, BMI, blood sugar levels, fitness and more. Our Facebook page and noticeboard outside Christ Church shares when the next visits will be. they coincide with when our Here for You community hub is open in the morning.
Our Church Administrators are usually based here too when the Community Hub is open. So if you want information on hiring Christ Church Community Hall, getting involved with our church or community outreach activities through volunteering or have general enquiries about our churches and what we offer do pop in and see Marie or Jenny.
Mix and Fix
This is a small friendly group that meet in Christ Church Hall on alternate Fridays from 2pm to 4pm to make items needed for various projects. We have always got plenty of things to make. Knitting, crocheting or stitching and sometimes learning new skills from one another. The group have been involved in making poppies which adorn Snodland in November for Remembrance Sunday and they often make clothing for the Making Miracles charity which have several local shops selling handmade items to raise money to support those affected by birth trauma or baby bereavement.
Or if you have another craft you like doing you are welcome to be creative with this and bring it along, be it painting, sequin art, weaving or mending items.
Always plenty of chat over a warm drink and a biscuit. All welcome.
Coffee Break Babies and Toddlers group
Coffee Break Pre-schoolers group meet every Tuesday in Term Time at Christ Church Community Hall and Wednesday at Holborough Village Hall both between 10am – 12 noon.
Coffee Break was started at Christ Church over 40 years ago for parents and carers with babies and children under school age. Parents and carers stay with their children and remain responsible for them at all times.Coffee Break was started at Christ Church over 40 years ago for parents and carers with babies and children under school age. Since 2016 a second group has met at Holborough; both groups provide a meeting place for parents/carers and toddlers in a safe space where children can enjoy a wide range of play experiences while introducing them to a social environment where they can engage with other children and gain confidence. While taking care of their children, parents and carers can socialise with and support one another.
A donation of £1 is asked for to cover the cost of tea, coffee and replacement toys.
Once a month we try to have a J.a.M. (Jesus and Me) Toddler Praise service as part of the Coffee Break session with a bible story and songs. Parents and carers are also invited to come to the Messy Church craft and activities held monthly on Saturday mornings at Christ Church. For further information please contact Revd. Something for everyone. Those who come along are invited to share their interests and hobbies if they wish too and so far the group have shared breakfasts, heard from different speakers either visiting the group or those within the group have shared some of their interests. They have visited West Malling Abbey, another Men’s group in Coxheath and have plans for other activities later on in the year.
